We, the Heads of State/Government of the Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (hereinafter referred to as “ASEAN”), namely Brunei Darussalam, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Lao People’s democratic Republic, Malaysia, the the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Socialist Repblic of Viet Nam, met at the 28th ASEAN Summit in Vientiane, Lao PDR on 6 September 2016.

The PM has issued a plan to implement the emulation movement “The entire nation jointly builds new-style rural areas” in the 2016-2020 period, striving to have 50% of communes nationwide meeting all 19 criteria for new-style rural areas by 2020.

During the three-day “Gender and Disaster Risk Reduction” conference, about 70 government officials, non-governmental organisations, researchers from 22 countries - plus, 200 representatives from government, inter-governmental organisations, the United Nations, the Red Cross, and civil society in Việt Nam - gathered to call for urgent action to promote gender equality in disaster risk reduction programmes and policies.
